Dental Slang

Jan 1, 2020

Welcome back, Slangers! Our guest today, Dr. Amanda Seay, is a comprehensive restorative dentistry guru with several accolades in dental aesthetics and cosmetic dentistry. She’s also been developing several fresh techniques for dental photography with fellow Dental Slanger Dr. Adamo Notarantino, which she will be teaching in their upcoming courses for 2020.

We talk a little bit about those courses on today’s episode, but mostly we’re chatting about what it takes to get to the dental status Dr. Amanda is at. The education, the mentorships, and the experiences are all at the heart of what makes Dr. Amanda such a stellar member of our community. The only thing left for her to do at this point is to start her own academy, which she has, sort of.

Amanda started a small group of lady dentists who come together to chat, collaborate, and bounce ideas off one another in one very clever way. These ladies get together at one another’s offices and go through each other’s desk drawers asking about dental tools, techniques, and even what kind of technology each is using to treat their patients. What makes this group so special is that these friends all come together to motivate one another and, most importantly, hold themselves accountable.

Finding a mentor to hold you accountable and push you along is the secret to success, but these mentors don’t always have to be seasoned dentists or minor celebrities. Mentorship can be found a friendship. Dr. Amanda shares today how one best friend and little friendly competition boosted Google reviews for both of their practices and inspired an entire dental community to do the same.

Where you find a mentor might surprise you. We all have so many different experiences in our lives - we’re parents, entrepreneurs, artists, and more than just dentists. Finding a mentor in any and all areas of our lives is a rewarding experience that can benefit our careers without us even realizing it, and that’s the biggest nugget Dr. Amanda shares with us today on the Dental Slang Podcast.

Don’t worry, we’re still talking about our favorite slang. Tune in to hear not only how Dr. Amanda found her most influential mentors, but also hear the clever slang terms she’s using with her staff. Compare your own office lingo and let us know which slang you’re going to start using now with your team!
